I am an Indian passport holder and last time this Schengen country accepted my visa applications at the Embassy directly. Currently, they have switched to VFS. Lets see below what you need to do this time for your visa application submission.
Steps to apply Schengen visa using VFS :
- Visit VFS Global official website.
- Select your location and Schengen country you are planning to visit.
- Choose your visa type. (Short Term or Long Term)
- Choose your sub-category i.e. VFS Categories. (To pin point document requirement)
- Gather your documents.
- Register yourself on VFS site.
- Login & Take appointment by filling details like Name, Passport Number, Branch and selecting date of appointment.
- Appear on your chosen VFS branch office before time.
- Take your token before entering VFS.
- Be sited and wait for them to call your number.
- Go to the counter and submit all your documents.
- They will go through your documents and point out any missing documents or accept the documents as it is.
- If you are missing some documents, they will give you time to gather this document.
- After submitting all required documents, you need to wait some mins for them to finish formalities.
- Then you need to pay for the VFS services and get the receipt.
- If you are a first time traveler or your biometrics have expired then you need to submit your biometrics at the next step.
- This is your final step to submit your application.
Finally before leaving the center, you can talk to the person at the counter where you submitted documents and clarify if everything is completed. Then you can leave the center and wait for the SMS / emails from the VFS regarding the updates on your VISA application.
It takes around one day for VFS to send your files to respective Embassy. You might get a call from Embassy or they might even request for a personal interview.
This process shouldn't take more than 2 weeks but in some particular cases it can take up to 30 days.
I hope this post helps you with your visa application. Best of luck. ✌️
